March is the time to start thinking about coming out of hibernation, and looking forward to the winter thaw. This month’s focus is on evaluating what’s working so far this year, and what could use some adjustments.
Winter Thaw For your clientele
Check in on your clients’ progress with their new year’s goals. Did your steps in January make a difference? Renew commitment to support them. Write down ideas on the post-it notes. Pick one, enter it on the calendar and do it.
Winter Thaw For your business
Use statistics to determine if your home page content is effective in bringing in new traffic and generating visitor interaction. Do new visitors answer the call to action, such as:
- by leaving their email address,
- making comments,
- submitting contact information,
- and/or calling?
Make changes where necessary.
tips and support
In case you missed last month’s post, there will be a free webinar on Tuesday, March 28th at 1pm EDT. We’ll discuss your website statistics – what they are and what to do with them. Sign up to receive reminders and access to the replay here.
You will receive two important messages:
- a short survey about your use of this calendar to see where adjustments can be made to better support your marketing goals for this year
- a worksheet for your home page content review
February is all about love. Showing appreciation for your loyal clients, and taking the time to recognize your own hard work by giving yourself the data to prove it to yourself.
Show the Love For your clientele
Show appreciation with a small thoughtful gift – it doesn’t have to cost much. Write ideas on the post-it notes — a simple thank you note, yummy treats, or take creative inspiration from Pinterest boards. Pick one, and mark “Client Appreciation Day” on the calendar. My thoughtful gift for you this month of ‘love’ is a free webinar training that will take place in March, 2017. Keep an eye out for more info!.
Show the Love For your business
Gather a snapshot of your current business metrics. This should include website statistics, gross revenue, growth in clientele, amount of return visits or repeat business, number of referrals, and advertising spend. Save this information as a benchmark for comparison at the end of this year, and plan to toast your success as you ring in 2018!
Tips and support
You’re invited to a free webinar to learn how to collect, and to make sense of, your website statistics. The live training will be on Tuesday, March 14th at 1pm EST. If you can’t make it live, still register to receive the recording afterward. You’ll be introduced to the basic website statistics you should be recording, why you need to be recording them, and what to do with that information afterward.

EDITED January 2018: The beauty of this calendar is the tips and suggested tasks are timeless and can be ‘rinsed and repeated’. So in that vein, watch for a new/republished post each month in 2018!
New Beginnings for your clientele
Find out what your clientele are striving for in the New Year, and how you can better support them. The easiest way to do this? Create a free survey either on your website using a form plugin, or with a service like Survey Monkey. Or, just email and ask! Once you’ve gotten some responses, brainstorm and write ideas on the post-it notes. Pick one, enter date on the calendar and implement it.
New Beginnings for your business
Create a marketing plan for the year. How will you let more of the world know how awesome you are, and how much better their lives would be with your business supporting them? Take the tried-and-true marketing strategies, add some fresh ideas, and set dates to make it all happen! Look ahead in the calendar and fill out post-it notes for the first quarter, or more. Then work the PLAN.

Any wall calendar is great for seeing the big picture, broken down into easy-to-implement, monthly steps. I recommend you read these monthly email/posts, and if you like to check things off, print the image below, then check off the tasks as you go through them.
Another tool I recommend is the Productive! planner from Shelagh Cummins. You can learn more about it, and order your copy, at shelaghcummins.com/productive. Get yours before they’re gone.] Use in conjunction with the Simple Marketing Calendar posts and your path to success will be as easy as “fill in the blanks.”
Another New Year on the horizon, and another reason to revisit the #365 selfie project!
In 2014 I embarked on my first #365 Selfie project, using the hashtag #365FeministSelfie. I enjoyed the simplicity of it, and the way it allowed me to easily be visible and present on social media, without feeling like it was a chore.
In 2015 I tried again with #365Laugther. That was considerably harder and I didn’t end up completing the year.
This past year, 2016, I started the #365WalkSelfie as a way to stay motivated to get out for a walk at least once every day. And while it was meant to motivate me, it turns out my daily selfies were also motivating many of my friends! And although I missed a day or two here and there throughout the year, it still felt like a successful project.
SO, beginning on January 1st, 2017, watch out for the newest #365 selfie project. You can follow my daily “ACTIVE” adventures at the hashtag #365ActiveSelfie. I decided to change from ‘walk’ because a lot of the time I would play soccer or softball, etc. and still use that for my selfie. It felt weird. So in 2017, ALL and ANY activity I do each day can be documented in my daily #365ActiveSelfie. And I’d love to have others on the journey. Sometimes the only active time we get is cleaning the house – that counts, too!
Will you join my adventure? Let me know in the comments and include your Instagram and/or FB name so I can follow you too!
Here’s to an active 2017!
